Haryana to partly refund premium on farmers' insurance schemes

CHANDIGARH: On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee year commencing from November 1, the Haryana government has decided to provide benefit of half per cent in premium to the beneficiary villages, blocks and districts which have 100% coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pashudhan Bima Yojna. The government will also declare these areas risk free and refund the amount of premium.

A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh on Wednesday to review various schemes of departments of agriculture and farmer’s welfare and horticulture.

The government decided to set up soil testing laboratories in all 108 mandis in the state, the space for which will be made available by Haryana State Agricultural and Marketing Board. Apart from this, it was decided that perry agriculture concept will be promoted in blocks adjoining Kundli Manesar Palwal Expressway as this will not only meet the requirement of Delhi for fruits, flowers, vegetable and dairy products but also increase the farmers’ income.
