While expressing deep shock over the loss of nearly 700 lives in the Himalayan country following the disaster, the Chief Minister said that his government will provide every help to the people.

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today offered to provide 20,000 food packets to Nepal, that was hit by a massive earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale.

While expressing deep shock over the loss of nearly 700 lives in the Himalayan country following the disaster, the Chief Minister said that his government will provide every help to the people.

Deputy Commissioner of Faridabad and Panipat are collecting food packets by involving various social organizations for the disaster-struck people of Nepal. We will provide around 20,000 food packets to the Central government to be airlifted to Nepal, an official release said here.

Haryana government has also offered to provide blankets for the affected people.

Nearly 700 people were killed after a powerful earthquake struck Nepal today flattening houses and buildings including the centuries-old Dharhara tower and triggering an avalanche on Mt Everest.

The tremors were also felt in northern and eastern parts of India, killing 34 people and injuring about 100 others.
