Haryana launches drive against vehicles with tinted glasses

The Haryana Transport department today asked the drivers and owners of vehicles in the state to remove the tinted glasses and solar films by May 10.

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Transport department today asked the drivers and owners of vehicles in the state to remove the tinted glasses and solar films by May 10.

Under the drive, all the enforcement authorities would suspend certificate of registration of vehicles with tinted glasses or solar films under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 after May 10, state Transport Commissioner Sumita Misra said today.

She said that action to cancel the certificate of registration of vehicles, which continue to violate the rules would also be taken as per provisions of the Act.

She said that all Secretaries of the Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) in the state have been directed to ensure that these directions are adhered to in letter and spirit.

Misra said the Department has also decided to launch a vigorous campaign to challan the agricultural tractor trolleys that are being used for commercial purposes in an unauthorised manner.

As many as 1,110 such vehicles have been challaned from April, 2012 to February, 2013 in the state.
