Haryana has sanctioned Rs.7 crore for this fiscal to provide free bicycles to the Scheduled Castes students studying in government schools.

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Government today sanctioned an amount of Rs 7 crore for the year 2015-16 to provide free bicycles to Schedule caste (SC) students studying in government schools of the state here, official said.

Students studying in class 9th and 11th who do not have a high school or a senior secondary school in their village, will be benefited under the scheme. This will make it easy for the students to commute to next village for their higher education, a spokesperson of School Education department said.

He said that to avail benefit under the scheme, the student should be domicile of Haryana and should belong to one of the castes classifieds as scheduled caste in Haryana.
