Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu claims Rs 90 lakh for damages
MUMBAI: Insurance companies have received about 100 claims so far for damages to property and motor vehicles in the Jat agitation in Haryana, including one for Rs 90 lakh from finance minister Captain Abhimanyu. They expect the number to increase in the days ahead as the situation remains tense.

"We have got intimation for about 20 claims worth Rs 7-8 crore, mostly under the fire policy bought by shops," G Srinivasan, chairman of New India Assurance, said.

Captain Abhimanyu’s claim for damage to his Toyota Land Cruiser has come under a comprehensive motor policy, which even covers damage to vehicles in a riot. Insurance companies started covering damages caused in a riot or terrorism after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination in 1984.
