Haryana elections: BJP leads over Indian National Lok Dal and Congress

In the first hour of counting, BJP was leading on four seats followed by INLD on two, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress on one each.

CHANDIGARH: BJP, which fought the electoral battle for the first time on its own in Haryana, was today leading over its rivals Indian National Lok Dal and Congress as per initial trends available.

In the first hour of counting, BJP was leading on four seats followed by INLD on two, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress on one each.

Haryana Minister Mahender Partap Singh of Congress is trailing behind Seema Trikha of BJP from Badhkal seat while another Minister Geeta Bhukkal is leading over her nearest rival Sadu Ram of INLD.

INLD nominee Pardeep Chaudhary is leading over Latika Sharma of BJP.

Haryana had created history by clocking an all-time high polling of about 76.54 per cent, surpassing maximum of 72.65 per cent in 1967 in the high-stakes battle among top contenders Congress, BJP and INLD in a multi-cornered contest.

During the 2009 Assembly elections Congress had won 40 seats, INLD 31, BJP four, HJC-BL six, SAD and BSP one each and Independents seven.
