Haryana CM calls for meeting of Northern states to tackle air pollution
CHANDIGARH: In view of the present pollution situation in Delhi, Haryana Government has requested the Center to call an emergency meeting of the neighboring states of National Capital Region, including Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, so that the steps can be taken at the earliest

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala while interacting with the media said that the Chief Minister, Manohar Lal has sent a letter to the Union Environment Minister, Mr. Prakash Javadekar to call an emergency meeting so that extensive steps can be taken to control the ongoing public health issues in the NCR.

The Deputy Chief Minister was interacting with the media at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi today for the increasing level of pollutants in the air, from the past several days.


The Deputy Chief Minister said that in this regard, a detailed discussion with Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has been held. He said that Mr. Manohar Lal has sent a letter to the Union Environment Minister, Mr. Prakash Javadekar and further discussed the matter over the telephone also.

Talking to the media, the Haryana Deputy Chief Minister said that compared to last year, in Haryana; there has been a significant decrease of 34 percent in the incidents of crop burning. It will always be the endeavor of the State government to completely control the incidents of stubble burning.

He said that the continuous fire burning at the dumping grounds in Delhi area is also, a dangerous pollutant and the Delhi government should constantly monitor such incidents. He said that the environment is a matter related to the health of the people, therefore instead of d politicizing such important subjects, efforts should be made to work together for saving the environment.

Mr. Dushyant Chautala said that the concept of maximum waste based on 'Waste to Energy', especially agricultural waste-based plants will be encouraged in Haryana.
