DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today asked the Centre to take steps for the safe release of youths from Uttarakhand stranded in Malaysia due to various reasons including unavailability of necessary documents.

The Chief Minister has written to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj asking her to direct the Indian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to ensure the safe release of all Uttarakhandi youths stranded in the Malaysian capital, Rawat's media incharge Surendra Kumar said.

He has also requested the Union Minister to instruct the Indian diplomats in Kuala Lumpur to take proper care of the stranded youths till they are provided with necessary documents and allowed to return.

About 11 youths from Uttarakhand who had gone to the Malaysian capital in search of work are now facing problems in returning home due to various reasons including unavailability of adequate documents, he said.
