Harish Khare appointed as PM's media adviser

Distinguished journalist and political commentator Harish Khare has been appointed as the media adviser to the Prime Minister.

NEW DELHI: Distinguished journalist and political commentator Harish Khare has been appointed as the media adviser to the Prime Minister. He replaces Deepak Sandhu, who has been shifted to the Central Information Commission as its member.

In his capacity as the media adviser to the prime minister, Mr Khare, who���s at present the Chief of Bureau and senior associate editor at The Hindu, will hold the rank of a secretary to the government of India.

The 62-year-old Mr Khare is a seasoned journalist, who has made his mark in Indian journalism because of his incisive comments on a whole range of issues, including politics and bureaucracy.

Mr Khare has a PhD in Political Science from Yale University and has enjoyed an illustrious career in journalism for over 35 years.

Prior to his job in The Hindu, where he has been for over 15 years, Mr Khare was the resident editor of the Times of India, Ahmedabad.

An official announcement of his new appointment is expected shortly, official sources said.
