Hardik Patel named in second sedition case

GANDHINAGAR: Ahmedabad police have filed a 2,700 page chargesheet against Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convener Hardik Patel on Monday. Hardik along with his associate Chirag Patel, Dinesh Bhamaniya and Ketan Patel have been charged under sections 121A and 124A of Indian Penal Code for sedition and waging war against the government.

The charge-sheet it is learnt, contains several call detail records of Hardik, his associates , statements of more than 500 witnesses and the certificates from the forensic science laboratory on the authenticity of the call details.

It may be mentioned here that the Surat Police had filed its own charge sheet accusing Hardik of sedition on January 8.

Patel has been behind the bars since October last year on charges of sedition. Hardik was arrested by the police on October 3 and was charged with sedition as well as for inciting violence. While he had moved Gujarat High Court for bail, his plea was rejected and subsequently he had knocked the doors of the Supreme Court, which had asked the state government to file the charge-sheet.
