Hailstorm hits Mizoram
AIZAWL: The pre-monsoon thunderstorm, accompanied by massive hailstorm and strong wind, left trails of destruction in various parts of Mizoram last evening, state Disaster Management and Rehabilitation department officials today said.

The hails, bigger than eggs in size, hit many villages in Mizoram-Tripura-Bangladesh border Mamit district, central Mizoram's Serchhip district, Mizoram-Myanmar border Champhai district and south Mizoram's Lunglei district.

Hundreds of tin-roofed houses were damaged in different parts of the state, the officials said, adding, there were no reports of human casualty so far.

The extent of damage caused by the hailstorm would be known only after receipt of detailed reports form the administration of the affected districts, the officials said.
