Gyaneshwari Express mishap: PCPA leader arrested

Police arrested Sameer Mahato accused in the Gyaneshwari Express mishap.

JHARGRAM: West Bengal police on Tuesday arrested People's Committee against Police Atrocities ( PCPA) leader Sameer Mahato, a key accused in the May 28 Gyaneshwari Express derailment.

Mahato is scheduled to be produced before a Jhargram court later today.

He was part of the team that removed the pandrol clips from the track.

Earlier, West Bengal Police and commandos of the elite special action force (SAF) arrested four suspected members of the PCPA in connection with the attack.

Those arrested were identified as Manoranjan Mahto, Rakal Barik, Rabindra Mahto and Bhonomali Mahato.

The derailment of the Howrah-Kurla Gyaneshwari Express on May 28 by suspected Maoists took a huge toll of innocent civilian lives.
