BHOPAL: Protesting police firing on Gurjars demanding scheduled tribe status in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh Gurjar Mahasabha on Thursday sought dismissal of Vaasundhara Raje government and compensation to the victims.

In a memorandum addressed to the President and submitted to Governor Balram Jakhar here, Mahasabha president Sardar Singh Dangas and former Congress MLA Jodhram Gurjar claimed that BJP had promised ST status to Gurjars during its poll campaign in Rajasthan, but failed to fulfill it.

They demanded dismissal of BJP government in Rajasthan and compensation of Rs 15 lakh each to kins of the deceased and Rs five lakh each to the injured.

The Mahasabha workers also burnt an effigy of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje to protest the firing.

As many as 14 persons were killed in violence and police firing during protests by Gurjar community members in Rajasthan yesterday.
