Gurjar body to continue agitation for ST status
A Gurjar body today said that it would continue its stir for the Scheduled Tribe status as it was dissatisfied with government's response to its demand.
Rajasthan Gurjar Arakashan Sangarsh Samiti, which joined hands with dominant Gurjar faction by led by Kirori Singh Bainsala yesterday, said it would hold a major meeting on January 27 at Bharatpur to plan a fresh course of action.
"Gurjars reject the statement made by Ramdas Agarwal, Chairman of the Special Package Committee that the reservation issue was finished and the Raje government would not send any letter of recommendation to the centre for ST status", Prahlad Gunjal, an expelled BJP MLA leading the samiti, told a press conference here.
"My faction of Gurjar community has agreed to shake hands of prominent Gurjar leader Retd Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsala for the cause of unity and community's sole demand of ST status", he said.
BJP MP Vishwendra Singh also supports the cause of reservation for Gurjars, he claimed.
