The Gurjar agitation in Rajasthan for their inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes list today reverberated in the MCD House with councillors belonging to the community creating a ruckus pressing for their demands.

NEW DELHI: The Gurjar agitation in Rajasthan for their inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes list today reverberated in the MCD House with councillors belonging to the community creating a ruckus pressing for their demands.

Nearly 30 Gurjar councillors from the capital, majority of them belonging to the Bahujan Samaj Party shouted slogans pressing for their demands and even broke a table and a chair.

As the councillors rushed to the well of the house, officials of the civic body noting down the proceedings ran towards Commissioner A K Nigam's chair seeking protection.

Later talking to reporters, BSP leader Sahi Ram said the protests in the House were aimed at showing solidarity with Gurjars in Rajasthan who have been demanding reservation and inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes list.

"Members of our community are carrying on a non-violent protest in Rajasthan and we extend our solidarity and support to them," he said.

Leader of the House BJP's Subhash Arya and leader of opposition Congress' J K Sharma both condemned the incident.
