At least seven pro-Indian political parties have formed the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration to fight for the restoration of J&K’s special status.
Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said that Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad shouldn’t “presume to know what the Hon judges will decide” on the special status of J&K and Article 370.

Abdullah was reacting to Prasad’s remarks on Saturday that Article 370 won’t be restored as it was removed through proper constitutional process.

“Dear Ravi Shankar Prasad ji, we don’t expect you to restore anything but unless you are suggesting the Supreme Court has surrendered its independence & takes dictation from you please don’t presume to know what the Hon judges will decide,” Abdullah wrote on twitter.

With the passing of the J&K Reorganisation Bill last year, J&K’s special status was abrogated and the state was divided into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh. Over the past one year, 23 petitions have been filed in the SC challenging the BJP government’s decision to abrogate J&K’s special status.

At least seven pro-Indian political parties have formed the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration to fight for the restoration of J&K’s special status. The alliance leaders, a senior leader said, were now formulating a strategy to reach out to the public regarding their fresh political discourse. They would also be discussing the possibility of participating in panchayat and district development council elections that are scheduled to be conducted soon.
