JAIPUR: Gujjar leaders Prahalad Gunjal and Atar Singh Bhadana have resorted to hunger strike in Kota jail, a spokesman of the Sanyukt Gurjar Aarkshan Sangarsh Samiti they represent said on Saturday.

However, prison authorities denied they are on hunger strike.

Both the expelled BJP MLAs, at loggerheads with Kirori Singh Bainsala who is spearheading the Gujjar agitation in Rajasthan, are on hunger strike, Samiti spokesman Vikas Narwar said.

He said both had informed about this to their lawyer Harish Sharma who met them this evening in the jail.

The two leaders are demanding that a team of AIIMS doctors should conduct post mortem on those killed in the ongoing Gujjar stir for an ST tag in the state.

The two were taken into custody on May 24.
