Gujarat to vote for 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities on April 26
Gandhinagar: Gujarat State Election Commission announced the date for elections across 15 Municipal Corporations, 84 Municipalities, 34 District Panchayats, and 260 Taluka Panchayats on Wednesday.

While the elections will take place on April 26. the results will be announced on April 28.

State Election Commissioner Dr. S. Murali Krishna said that hat nominations will be filed starting April 6. The last date for filing nominations is April 11. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on April 13. While the last date of withdrawal of nomination will be April 15, voting will be held on April 26 and in case of re-polling is needed anywhere, that will be done on April 27 and he results will be announced on April 28.


The Village Panchayat elections across 8000 villages in Gujarat was held last year.

The local body elections in Gujarat assumes extra significance as for the ruling BJP this will be the first election under the newly appointed state President Jagdish Vishwakarma and his new team on one hand and for Congress this will be a litmus test as the party will face the voters after completing Rahul Gandhi’s experiment of consultative appointment of the local level appointments.
