"If this is not checked, the sanctity of the election process in Gujarat in times to come will be questioned,” AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said on Monday.
NEW DELHI: The Congress has demanded a court-monitored inquiry into a Patidar leader’s allegation in Gujarat that the BJP had offered him Rs 1 crore for joining the saffron party.

The party also wanted the prime minister and BJP national president to speak on the charges being levelled against their party leaders.

“It calls for reaction from the prime minister and BJP president. It calls for registration of an FIR against the Gujarat BJP. It calls for investigation under a sitting judge of the Gujarat High Court. If this is not checked, the sanctity of the election process in Gujarat in times to come will be questioned,” AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said on Monday.

He claimed that BJP Gujarat state unit president Jitubhai Vaghani “is the main culprit behind the bribe offer”. Tewari said “the bribery offer” was part of BJP’s attempt to “break people-led movements” against BJP rule in Gujarat.
