GANDHINAGAR: Gujarat police on Saturday has registered an FIR against former leader of opposition Shaktisinh Gohil who had questioned Narendra Modi’s Backward Caste credentials last week. The FIR followed a complaint from Shailesh Modi of Ahmedabad, who alleged that Gohil had insulted and blamed the entire Modh Ghanchi community.

A land broke by profession, Shailesh Modi alleged that Gohil said that Modh Ghanchis have been claiming benefits of OBC in spite of not being OBC.

Alleging that Gohil has defamed the entire community for his political motives he said Gohil’s statements were available on his website as well. He also presented a CD containing Gohil’s press conference held in New Delhi last week.

Gujarat Police maintained that it would proceed with further investigation after studying the CD.
