Gujarat needs "full-time" Chief Minister: CPI
AHMEDABAD: Taking a dig at BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the Communist Party of India ( CPI) today asked Governor Kamla Beniwal and the ruling party to appoint "a full-time" Chief Minister in Gujarat.

"As the Constitutional head of the state, we demand that Governor Kamla Beniwal and the BJP, if at all they are concerned about the people of Gujarat, should appoint a full-time Chief Minister in the larger public interest," CPI said in a press statement here.

"The Chief Minister's personal ambitions have not allowed him to pay full attention to Gujarat's development. This has been vindicated in Raghuram Rajan's report, which has clubbed Gujarat among the less developed states," it said.

CPI further said that ever since Narendra Modi was chosen as BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, he was busy with national politics, and remained mostly outside the state.

"The state's administrative activities have stalled," CPI spokesperson Ramsagarsinh Parihar said in the statement.
