Gujarat Municipal Corporation elections 2026 counting of votes began on April 28 with the BJP emerging as the clear frontrunner in major cities. Early trends show the saffron party leading comfortably in Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara, while it has already won two seats unopposed in Ahmedabad. The results will decide control over key urban local bodies in the state.

Surat Municipal Election 2026 Results Live
Counting is underway for 120 seats in Surat Municipal Corporation across 30 wards. As per early trends, BJP has won 8 seats while Congress and AAP have won 2 seats each. BJP had fielded candidates on all 120 seats. The party is widely expected to retain strong control in the diamond city. Voter turnout in Surat was recorded at 59.21%. Vote counting is in progress for 76 seats across 19 wards in Vadodara Municipal Corporation. BJP, which has been in power since 1995 and won 69 seats in 2021, is showing a dominant performance in early trends. The party had dropped several sitting leaders and given tickets to many new faces this time. Rajkot Municipal Election 2026 Results Live Counting of votes is underway for 72 seats across 18 wards in the Rajkot Municipal Corporation. Early trends show the BJP maintaining a strong lead with 16 seats, while Congress has secured 4 seats and AAP is yet to open its account.

Ahmedabad/Amdavad Municipal Election 2026 Results Live
Counting has begun for 192 seats across 48 wards in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. BJP candidates have already won two seats unopposed — Vasna and Thaltej wards. The party had fielded 190 candidates while Congress and AAP fielded 185 and 151 respectively. In the 2021 elections, BJP had won 159 seats.
