Gujarat High Court orders partial Mundra closure
NEW DELHI: Gujarat High Court on Monday ruled that 12 manufacturing units of the special economic zone run by Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd in Mundra should be shut down till Ministry of Environment & Forest grants it environment clearance within the next 30 days.

There are 21 manufacturing units in the Mundra Sez including the 12 which have been asked to shut down.

This order was in response to a public interest litigation filed by Navi Naal villagers in Gujarat. The high court directed the manufacturing units to not undertake any construction or operational or manufacturing activity till environmental clearance is granted to Mundra Special Economic Zone.

The ministry of environment & forest will take a fresh look at the environment clearance proposal to take a decision.

“Itis clarified beyond doubt that none of the berths at the Mundra Port are affected by this order. The operations at Mundra Port are absolutely normal,” said an Adani Ports spokesperson in a statement.

Shares of the company shed 3% at Rs 143.80, a share on Monday on BSE.
