AHMEDABAD: Twenty-nine months after completion of hearing, Gujarat high court is likely to deliver its verdict on Monday on the Godhra train burning case, in which 59 karsevaks were killed on February 27, 2002.

A special court in 2011 awarded death to 11 persons and punished 20 others to life imprisonment for the ghastly act, which led to state-wide communal violence, which claimed over 1,000 lives in next two months.

A bench of Justice A S Dave and Justice G R Udhwani completed hearing in April 2015 on various appeals filed by the convicts, the state government and the Supreme Court-appointed SIT as well as by kin of the victims.
