Gujarat govt admits to fake encounter

Gujarat government on Friday admitted before the Supreme Court that the husband of a woman, who had gone missing two years ago, was killed in a fake encounter with the police and it was taking immediate action against the erring personnel.

NEW DELHI: Gujarat government on Friday admitted before the Supreme Court that the husband of a woman, who had gone missing two years ago, was killed in a fake encounter with the police and it was taking immediate action against the erring personnel.

The state government, however, maintained that it could not disclose much about the incident.

“The preliminary enquiry has found that it was a fake encounter. We do not want to disclose much of it at this moment.

We are taking immediate action,” senior advocate KTS Tulsi, appearing for the Gujarat government told a Bench headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan.
