Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel retains Mahesana seat

After trailing initially, Nitin Patel finally emerged victorious, humbling Jivabhai Patel by a margin of 7,137 votes.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel retained his Patidar-dominated Mahesana seat today, defeating his Congress rival Jivabhai Patel.

After trailing initially, Nitin Patel finally emerged victorious, humbling Jivabhai Patel by a margin of 7,137 votes.

The deputy chief minister secured 90,235 votes against 83,098 votes polled by his nearest Congress rival.


Mahesana was the epicentre of the 2015 Patidar quota agitation.
