Gujarat Congress MLA Vitthal Radadia & son set to Join BJP
Former Gujarat MP Vitthal Radadia, who was caught gun-toting on camera last year, and his son on Monday resigned from Congress.
Soon after giving his resignation as an MLA, Radadia showered praises on Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, whom he had met on Sunday. "I have tendered my resignation to protest negative policies of Congress against Gujarat. Congress culture is of favoritism," Radadia was quoted by agencies as saying in Gandhinagar.
"Modi has brought Gujarat to new heights of development and he is the prime ministerial candidate of BJP," he said. BJP sources said the two leaders would soon be joining the party. Radadia is an influential Saurashtra leader, belonging to the Leuva Patel community.
Radadia , who had resigned as an MP and won in the recent assembly elections which was swept by BJP, and his son, also an MLA, visited the legislative assembly and submitted their resignations to Speaker Vaju Vala and later went to state Congress headquarters in Ahmedabad and resigned. He was understood to have been upset with Congress over having lost the post of leader of Opposition to party veteran and ex-chief minister Shankarsinh Vaghela.
