Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel to accompany PM Modi to China

The visit of the Chief Minister, officials said, is a follow up of the Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the state in September last year.

GANDHINAGAR: For her first trip abroad, Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel will accompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi to China.

While she had continued Gujarat’s bonhomie with China after Narendra Modi’s departure from Gujarat and met several Chinese delegations including one in April, she is likely to hard sell the GIFT City to the financial institutions.

Patel’s focus according to her website “will be to foster collaboration in sectors of manufacturing, engineering, textiles, MSMEs, financial services, technology, renewable energy, skill development and construction. Important projects of Gujarat, such as GIFT City, Dholera, Dahej, Gujarat as Auto and Ports Hub, Smart cities, Statue of Unity and DREAM City will also be showcased.”

“The focus in Beijing will be to develop bilateral government ties, in Guangzhou the focus will be on manufacturing, in Shenzhen it will be on financial services and in Hong Kong on investment, infrastructure and urban development,” it adds.

Patel will be accompanied by 26 prominent industrialists and a team of officials from the Gujarat government. The tour from May 14 to May 20 will include visit to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Patel would interact with high-level Chinese officials, investor and trade associations.
