Varesh Sinha, the 1977-batch IAS officer took over as Chief Secretary on January 31, 2013 and was slated to retire on April 30, 2014.

Gujarat chief secretary Varesh Sinha gets another extension
AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Chief Secretary Varesh Sinha was today given another three-month extension in service, starting from August 1, by the state government.

The 1977-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre was given the first extension in April.

The General Administration Department (GAD) issued a notification extending Sinha's term at the top bureaucratic post by three months. According to the notification, he will continue to serve in his current post till October 31.

Sinha took over as Chief Secretary on January 31, 2013 and was slated to retire on April 30, 2014.

However, the state government took permission from the Centre as well as Election Commission (as the model code was in force then) and granted him a three-month extension.
