Studying anti-love jihad laws of UP, MP: Gujarat
Gujarat government will study the efficacy of laws enacted in UP and MP against ‘love jihad’ and consider a similar Act, deputy CM Nitin Patel has said.

Speaking to the media in the sidelines of the inauguration of fund raising for Ram Mandir by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said “that society moves according to the norms and traditions of religion and family values but some people allure or misguide Hindu girls and marry them.”
“We have seen and heard that most of these girls are then ill treated and live in misery as long as they live. Their parents to live in grief and a disquiet is fomented in the society. India has a tradition of living in harmony and ensuring that such feelings don’t fester. But because people some treat women from other religions this way, there are occasions when these lead to major communal tensions. And we have seen such developments in the country in various places. Laws thus have been made in UP and MP to stop such marriages to avoid such situations” Patel added.
“Representations have been made before Gujarat Government, Chief Minister and me on various occasions by various people and organisations. We are studying the efficacy and results of the laws enacted in UP and MP seriously and further if acts can be brought in along the line of UP and MP will be considered seriously,” he added further.
Earlier in his address during the event, Patel had raked up the issue and said “our Hindu religion has thirty three crore deities and each have their followers. We worship them. And when can we do this, when India will be organised. Only then can we keep our temples, our boys and girls secured.”
“Why do we need to bring in laws against love jihad? Why are our boys and girls going out of our tradition? Why are the Vidharmis casting evil glance on our girls? This has to be thought about. Now we can and we are trying to keep our children grow in life keeping the family and religious values like in any democracy,” he had added.
