GST should have been allowed: Captain Amarinder Singh
NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader Amarinder Singh on Friday raised a voice of dissent by subtly disproving his party for not cooperating in the introduction of GST bill during the monsoon session of Parliament. the Congress’ deputy leader in Lok Sabha — currently active as a rebellious leader demanding AICC remove Punjab PCC chief PS Bajwa — has deftly linked his unhappiness about the deadlocked GST bill to the economic needs of his home state while taking care not to make any direct criticism of his party.

“Whatever the reasons and the circumstances during the monsoon session, GST should have been allowed to be introduced in the Parliament (Rajya Sabha) to facilitate the way for its eventual passage,” Singh said in a statement. Singh was mostly absent during the monsoon session of Parliament. His statement also made no reference to the LaMo and Vyapam scandals, over which his party was stalling Parliament.

In a subtle reminder of Congress’ political patent on the GST bill, Singh added that “the introduction of GST, which is originally the brainchild of the Congress, could have proved mutually beneficial for the industry as well as the state as it would have streamlined and uniformed the tax regime.”
