GST bill: AIDMK, Left give dissenting note to the Rajya Sabha select committee
NEW DELHI: The AIADMK on Tuesday gave its dissenting note to the Rajya Sabha select committee on the GST bill, registering its opposition to many provisions in the draft report cleared by the panel. The party wants the bill to keep natural gas out of the GST purview.

The note, submitted by AIADMK’s Navaneeth Krishna, is seeking provisions for 100% central compensation for states for five years and redrafting of the GST council by giving 3/4th weigtage to states and 1/4th to the Centre. The party wants the bill to make it clear that in future too it won’t consider bringing tobacco, petrol, aviation fuel and electricity under the GST purview. The CPM and CPI too gave their own dissenting notes, underlining the need to protect the federal interests in the GST.
