Grab opportunities that the country offers: Infosys CEO
As the country is poised to scale new heights, it is for the youth and professionals in diverse fields to aspire for the best as did Indian medal winners at the Beijing Olympics, Kris Gopalakrishnan, MD and CEO of Infosys Technologies, said.

ALAPPUZHA: As the country is poised to scale new heights, it is for the youth and professionals in diverse fields to aspire for the best as did Indian medal winners at the Beijing Olympics, Kris Gopalakrishnan, MD and CEO of Infosys Technologies, said.
Speaking at a function, organised by South Indian Bank (SIB) to honour the bank's "top performers" in 2007-08 here last night, he said India today offers greater opportunities than it ever did in the past.
"Opportunities today are far more than India had some 400 years back when our nation was the world's largest economy. As one of the fastest growing economies now, India provided ample opportunities to the youth to take advantage and restore the past glory of the nation," he said.
Often the blocks constricting the growth were in the minds and physical limitations were not a constraint, he said.
M Ramaswamy, Regional Director of RBI, observed in his keynote address that the success of managers lay in motivating their team as good leaders. He patted SIB for honouring the top performers.
Presiding over the function, V A Joseph, Chairman and CEO of the bank, said SIB was one of the few banks to have started CBS implementation in technologies in partnership with Infosys. This had helped the bank acquire the best technology in the banking sector.
E P Mathai and John Thomas, regional managers of SIB in New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram, were honoured on the occasion. Besides SIB's Corporate Communication Manager M J Simon and 25 branch heads were also honoured.
