Govt to organise mini Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas in The Hague

NEW DELHI: In an effort to reach out to the Indian diaspora in Europe and project the opportunities in India, Government will organise the next mini Pravasi Bhartiya Divas in The Hague, Netherlands, in September this year.

The event, to be held on September 19 at the historic World Forum in The Hague will see participation of prominent members of the Indian diaspora in Europe besides dignitaries from both Netherlands and India.

Officials at the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs said the mini PBD, modelled on the annual Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, is being organised to bring together members of the Indian Diaspora in Europe at a common platform and explore ways to enhance Indo-European cooperation.

It will also provide a platform to discuss the role of the Indian Diaspora in enhancing Indo-European cooperation besides exploring opportunities for trade and investment, they said.

The first mini Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention was held in New York in September 2007 while the second organized at Singapore in October last year.
