"It is sad and regrettable that those who have been espousing misplaced muscularity about Katchatheevu are scared of even uttering the word 'China'," said Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari, while criticising the response of external affairs minister S Jaishankar. "Such a weak and meek response from the foreign minister over China's cartographic aggression does not behove the Government of India," he said and charged that Centre has "continuously shown weak-kneed approach towards China ever since 2020 when the Chinese Army intruded into and occupied Indian territory at multiple places on the border".
The Congress spokesperson said: "Nothing can be more ridiculous than even to think that a Prime Minister (Indira Gandhi) who divided Pakistan into two parts, changed the political map of South Asia and who did not care about the threats from the United States and other western powers would concede even an inch of Indian territory to any other country." Tewari warned BJP against dragging such "national security issues" into its electoral discourse. "Don't bring national security within the realms of partisan politics," Tewari cautioned BJP.
