Hitting out at the Union home ministry for cancelling the FCRA licences of RGF and RGCT, Congress on Sunday evening said 'they recycle old charges' with an intention to 'defame' and 'divert' people's attention from real issues. The party said it won't be 'browbeaten' by the move. Congress asserted that RGF and RGCT are 'purely charitable in nature and comply with all laws and regulations'.

"Over the Deepavali weekend, the Ministry of Home Affairs...cancelled the FCRA registrations of both the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust. They recycle old charges... This is to defame and divert public attention from issues of day-to-day concern," said AICC spokesman Jairam Ramesh in a statement.
