Congress has accused the government of “manipulating” the Rafale deal by “punishing” bureaucrats who objected to it.

Party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy said: “In 2016, the then joint secretary was overruled by the Director General Acquisition for the go-ahead to the deal, after a new officer was brought in, in place of a person who had the reputation of being unbending... ”

The Congress also reiterated its demand for a probe by a joint parliamentary committee.
