Govt not serious about welfare of employees: Advani

L K Advani accused the UPA govt of being non-serious about the welfare of employees and described it as a "regime of betrayal".

NEW DELHI: Senior BJP leader L K Advani today accused the UPA government of being non-serious about the welfare of employees and described it as a "regime of betrayal".

"The UPA government has cheated the employees with the Pay Commission recommendations. The government which lacks stability is in no way in a condition to implement the recommendations," Advani said addressing a dharna of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh at Jantar Mantar here.

This government would go down into history as a "regime of betrayal", he said. "They betrayed not only the Left parties but also the working class of the country," he added.

He said it was unfortunate that under a "economist Prime Minister", the country was witnessing inflation rate of over 11 per cent.

Speaking at the meet, deputy leader of the party in Lok Sabha Vijay Kumar Malhotra criticised the pay commission for reducing the number of general holidays in the working calender. Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh is the worker's union close to BJP.
