Govt issues notification for 6th phase of assembly polls in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today issued notification for holding elections in 16 assembly constituencies in the border state in the sixth phase of the seven-stage poll on December 17.

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today issued notification for holding elections in 16 assembly constituencies in the border state in the sixth phase of the seven-stage poll on December 17.

The Governor has issued the notification for holding the elections in 16 constituencies in the sixth phase, an official spokesman said here.

The constituencies going to polls on December 17 are Noorabad, Kulgam, Home-Shalibugh and Devsar in Kulgam district Anantnag, Doru, Kokernag, Shangus, Bijbehara and Pahalgam in Anantnag district, Kishtwar and Inderwal in Kishtwar district, Doda and Bhaderwah in Doda district and Ramban and Banihal in Ramban district.

While November 29 will be the last date for filing of nominations, scrutiny of the papers will be held on November 30 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is December three. The electorate comprises 11.6 lakh, including 5.6 lakh women. As many as 1,268 polling stations would be set up in the 16 assembly constituencies
