Government ignored Congress suggestions, failed to tackle Covid-19: AICC
Rejecting Nadda’s charge that Sonia Gandhi was indulging in politics over the pandemic, AICC general secretary Ajay Maken said making concrete suggestions was part of constructive politics.

“The Modi government has not only shown complete administrative incompetence and indifference in effectively tackling the Covid-19 situation and in providing relief to affected people, but it also chose to ignore a series of concrete suggestions made by Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi and the CWC on how to deal with the Covid-19 situation”, Maken said. Rejecting Nadda’s charge that Sonia Gandhi was indulging in politics over the pandemic, Maken said making concrete suggestions was part of constructive politics.
Maken said the suggestions and concerns made by the Congress leadership were vindicated by reports by reputed medical journals like Lancet and that of the Indian doctors’ associations. Maken also asked Nadda to explain why BJP-ruled states such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have emerged ‘worst performers’ on Covid-19 deaths and vaccination. He insisted that Rajasthan, Punjab and Chhattisgarh, have emerged as top performers in containing the Covid-19 surge.
CWC member P Chidambaram tweeted that the BJP president, “instead of writing an ill-informed letter to the Congress president” may read an article written by Nobel Prize winners Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo and attached a link of the article, titled ‘India’s Problem Is Now the World’s Problem’, which appeared in The New York Times.
