The Government is in the process of formulating new guidelines for preserving the country's natural resources, Jayanthi Natarajan said.

CHENNAI: The Government is in the process of formulating new guidelines for preserving the country's natural resources, Union Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan said today.

"We are giving publicity for issues like bank robbery or scams. But we do not pay enough attention to preserve some of our natural resources like plants, animals which we meet every day," Natarajan told reporters here after chairing a seminar organised by the National Biodiversity Authority.

"We are in the process of developing the guidelines as we speak," she said adding the government had laid down rules to undertake researches at every level on India's natural resources by multi-national companies.

She called for more awareness among the public on preserving natural resources particularly in plants and animals.
