Government is exploring opportunities for involving private players through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Ganga clean-up activities.

NEW DELHI: Government is exploring opportunities for involving private players through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Ganga clean-up activities, Rajya Sabha was informed today.

Union Minister of State for Water Resources, Sanwar Lal Jat shared the information while responding to questions whether the Government has entered into agreements with private players for cleaning the river.

"The Government has not entered into any agreement with private players for cleaning Ganga. The projects for cleaning Ganga under Namami Gange are tendered by concerned executive agencies under respective state governments.

"Also, opportunities for involving corporate in the river clean-up activities through their CSR programmes are being explored," Jat said.
