NEW DELHI: Government is examining "some issues" with regard to conferring Constitutional status to the National Commission for Minorities (NCM).

The recommendations made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment on the 103rd Constitution Amendment Bill to confer Constitutional status on the NCM have been considered, Minority Affairs Minister A R Antulay informed the Lok Sabha today.

"But some related issues are still under examination," he said.

The 103rd Constitution Amendment Bill to confer Constitutional status on the NCM was introduced in the Lok Sabha in December 2004 and was referred to the Standing Committee for examination.
