In order to improve the healthcare facilities here, Jammu and Kashmir government is constructing three operation theatres at Gousia hospital at Khanyar area in downtown city.

SRINAGAR: In order to improve the healthcare facilities here, Jammu and Kashmir government is constructing three operation theatres at Gousia hospital at Khanyar area in downtown city.

The operation theatres are being built at a cost of Rs 20 lakh and the work is expected to be completed shortly, an official spokesman said after Director of Health Services Muzaffar Ahmad reviewed progress of the renovation work at the hospital yesterday.

Later, chairing a meeting of doctors of various units, Ahmad said better medicare facilities should be made available to the people of the area.

"The services available in this hospital are already good but there is always room for improvement," he added.

The Director was informed that 75,500 people have been treated during the past nine months in the hospital while 353 major and minor operations were conducted.
