Govt appoints Special, Additional Director of CBI

CBI has finally got a Special Director and an Additional Director.

NEW DELHI: After gap of over eight months, the CBI has finally got a Special Director and an Additional Director.

While Amar Pratap Singh, a 1974 batch IPS officer from the Jharkhand cadre, has been appointed as Special Director of the agency, Sharad Chandra Sinha, a 1975 batch IPS officer of the Haryana cadre, will be the new Additional Director.

The names of Singh and Sinha were cleared by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet after being cleared by the Central Vigilance Commission.

57-year-old Singh has a tenure up to February 28, 2012. He is at present posted as Additional Director General in the Border Security Force.

Sinha, who is currently posted in his home cadre, has a tenure till October 31, 2013. He was earlier posted as Joint Director in the CBI.

The CBI had been long been pressing for the appointments against its vacancies but the same were delayed in the bureaucratic wrangling.
