Governor invites Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti for talks
The Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti on Sunday said Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra had invited it for talks to resolve the shrine land row, but affirmed it would participate in parleys only if there was a concrete proposal.
"We have received a letter from B B Viyas, Principal Secretary to the Governor, for talks over the Amarnath land row," Samiti spoksman Narinder Singh told reporters here.
Soon after receiving the invite, the Samiti said it was ready for talks at any appropriate venue in case there was a concrete proposal or an agenda to solve the issue.
Singh, however, said no such proposal had been despatched to the Samiti by Governor's office.
He said "we reiterate our stand that if a concrete proposal or an agenda is sent to us for dialogue, we will act accordingly."
If this was not done, it would be presumed that the administration was only buying time to delay resolution of the problem, the Samiti said replying to Guv's letter.
This is the second invitation by the Governor to Samiti, spearheading the ongoing agitation over the land row in Jammu region, for talks to resolve the vexed issue.
On July 31, talks between the Governor and the Samiti were held but failed to yield any result.
Meanwhile, separatists suspended strike in Kashmir for three days from Tuesday.
