Government waiting for Libya situation to calm down for safe release of Indians

NEW DELHI: Two Indian teachers, abducted by Islamic State terror group ( ISIS) in Libya, remained in the captivity for the sixth day today even as the government was waiting for the situation to "calm down" in the war-torn country to ensure their safe release.

Meanwhile, two other teachers who were released by ISIS on August one are expected to reach India tomorrow.

According to official sources, efforts were on to get the Indians released from captivity but the government was waiting for the situation to "calm down" after reports of increased fighting between ISIS and supporters of the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

The teachers were abducted at a checkpoint approximately 50 km from Sirte on July 29 while returning to India via Tripoli and Tunis, an area under the control of ISIS.
