NEW DELHI: The Narendra Modi government has sought help from spiritual gurus to propagate its mission of 'sanitation for all'. The ministries of rural development and urban development have written to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Baba Ramdev, the Gayatri Parivar and the Bishop Council of India, appealing them to propagate the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan project.

"We are seeking support from religious gurus as well as students, apart from all members of Parliament and chief ministers, to be involved in the project so that it becomes a Jan Andolan (people’s movement),"Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said at the launch of the logo of the mission as well as its tagline, "Ek Kadam Swatchhta Ki Aur" (One step towards cleanliness). “We have increased the cost per toilet to Rs 12,000 as well as de-linked it from the rural employment," said Nitin Gadkari.
