Government to provide more resources to CBWE for its expansion
NEW DELHI: Union Labour and Employment Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today said the Central Board for Workers Education (CBWE) will be provided with more resources for it to expand its services across the country.

"Despite the limited resources the CBWE has done a good job and I am sure it will reach out to more areas if additional resources will be given to it," Tomar said at the event to mark the Board's Foundation Day which is being celebrated as 'Workers Education Day'.

I have asked the Board to submit the proposal for its expansion and the government will consider it, he added.

CBWE with a staff support of about 500 and budgetary allocation of Rs 75 crore is entrusted with responsibility of generating awareness about education among workers of organised, unorganised and rural sectors in the country.

Seeking the participation of the workers in the socio economic development of the nation, Tomar said there is no alternative to education and training which the CBWE is imparting to the workers.

He asked the CBWE to expand its base by reaching out to workers in Northeast region and also those in tribal areas of states like Odisha, Chhatisgarh and Madhya Pradesh to bring about a change in their lives.
