Government to initiate reforms to modernize police force: Tarun Gogoi

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi said that government had initiated steps to reform and modernize the police force and a Task Force will be set up within one month in this regard.

Gogoi on Saturday said that series of explosions by anti-talk faction of the Ulfa is an attempt of the outfit to prove their existence.

Gogoi said that the number of civilian killed in insurgent related incidents in Assam was 400 in 2001. This year it has come down to 10 to 12 this year. This shows improvement in the law and order front.
